Why did Turkey fail against Egypt ?! – Imad Eddin Hussein

An objective observer of the Egyptian-Turkish relations file since June 30, 2013, and until this moment, he will simply discover that the Egyptian state managed the file with the utmost wisdom, courage and professionalism.
Egypt did not begin to be hostile, and was always keen on having a hairball. It did not withdraw its ambassador until after Erdogan’s excesses and intrusions reached a point where it was difficult to continue, and despite that, the Chargé d’Affairs in the municipality continued to practice his work.
Turkey attacked Egypt diplomatically everywhere. And she opened her country to all the enemies of the state who attacked her from the various media platforms provided by Turkey.

When Turkey began its comprehensive political offensive against Egypt, it promoted that it was only a matter of time before the Brotherhood returned to power, and Erdogan would return to Ottoman sultan or successor to the Muslims.
But now, the picture on the ground clearly says that Turkey is pursuing Egypt day and night in recent months, in order to restore relations with it, which confirms to us that the Egyptian state has scored a major political, security and strategic victory during its struggle with the Erdogan regime and its tools over the past eight years.

Last Monday, the “Voice of America” newspaper quoted analyst Hossein Bajci of the Turkish Foreign Policy Institute as saying the steps that the Erdogan government is taking with Egypt is an attempt by Ankara to break its growing isolation. He adds: There is an increasing conglomeration in the region. And a growing hatred towards Turkey, and Turkey cannot go that way. You have a global environment of hostility that includes Greece, Cyprus, France, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the Emirates, and this is too much.
Bajce added, last year, Cairo increased pressure on Turkey when it signed an agreement with Greece to explore for energy in the Mediterranean waters, and before it the agreement with Cyprus.
This agreement with Greece dealt a heavy blow to all Turkish plans in the eastern Mediterranean waters.

Egypt called for the establishment of the Mediterranean Gas Forum, based in Cairo, with the participation of all eastern Mediterranean countries, and even the membership of countries far away from it, such as America and the Emirates, and only Turkey was excluded.
With an active Egyptian role, a friendship forum “Philia” was established in the Greek capital, Athens. It annexed Egypt, Greece, Cyprus, Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, Bahrain, Jordan and France, and so Turkey also found itself outcast and besieged.
Egypt launched the diplomacy of the tripartite meetings between Egypt, Greece and Cyprus at different levels. Especially at the level of the leaders, who used to meet at least twice a year and this kind of summit diplomacy represented a strong headache in the head of Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s regime.
In recent days, Turkish newspapers have published many stories about the possibility of Egypt benefiting from any demarcation or delimitation of the maritime border with Turkey. But even Turkish experts say that Egypt will not get anything because it has already established its exclusive economic zone, and Cairo does not need Ankara’s approval of its rights, because Greece and Cyprus are much closer to the Egyptian coast, and this means that Turkey is proposing these ideas to demand water that it has no rights to. .
This pro-Erdogan Turkish press has shifted its attitudes towards Egypt in the recent period in a large proportion, and after it described President Sisi’s regime as being supportive of repressive regimes, it suddenly became the subject of praise and praise of the ruling people and their media trumpets.
But once again, where will Turkey go with Egypt ?!

Regional analyst Sinan Ulgen says that the Turkish conciliatory words towards Egypt are not sufficient to achieve a diplomatic achievement, and in the end this new transformation depends on what Turkey does and will achieve results.
According to analyst Jim Goronibs, Ankara’s support for the Brotherhood remained the main point of tension between the two countries, and he adds: Egypt is now working against Turkey due to the wrong policy of the Turkish government based on the religious background, and when Turkey leaves this policy, I am sure that relations between the two countries will be better.
Analysts believe that the next talks, if they take place, will be very difficult, given the hostility and lack of confidence between them, and the difficulty of removing the old stage.
If Egypt managed, with exemplary calm and patience, to lead the dispute with Turkey with the greatest possible wisdom, and the result is what we see now.
