In numbers, history frustrates Egypt and Saudi Arabia in front of the Olympiad competitors

The soccer draw for the Olympic Games “Tokyo 2020” resulted in two fire groups for representatives of Arab football, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

The Egyptian team was in Group C with Spain, Argentina and Australia, and the Saudi team was in Group D with Brazil, Germany and Cote d’Ivoire.

Spain

The start is with the Egyptian national team, which will open its campaign in the Tokyo Olympics when it faces Spain, in the first round on July 22nd.

Argentina

Australia

The Egyptian national team concludes its group matches with its Australian counterpart on July 28, and the two teams previously met on two occasions, the first in the 1981 Youth World Cup organized by Australia and the Egyptians won 2-0, then they lost in the second 0-1 in Portugal in 1991.

As for the Saudi team, which will open its confrontations in the Tokyo Olympics, against the Ivorian national team on July 22, 2021 at Yokohama Stadium, then it will meet Germany and finally Brazil.

Côte d’Ivoire

The Saudi team met against Cote d’Ivoire in a single official match, which was in the World Youth Cup in 2003 and ended in a goalless draw in the group stage.

Germany

The Saudi national team meets its German counterpart in the second round on July 25, after a series of confrontations that brought them together.

The beginning was in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, and ended with a big victory for Germany, 6-0, in the group stage.

The Germans once again outperformed “Green” in the World Youth Championship, by winning 3-0 in the 1987 group stage.

The two teams also faced for the first time at the adult level in the 2002 World Cup, when Germany won 8-0 over Saudi Arabia in the group stage.

Brazil

“Al Akhdar” will conclude his confrontations with Brazil in the third round of the group stage on July 28, and Al-Khader has not previously won any official match against Samba during 7 previous meetings.

The beginning was in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics in the group stage, and Brazil won 3-1 against the Saudi national team, then the World Junior Cup, and Samba overthrew the Green from the quarter-finals by winning 2-1 in 1985.

In the same year, the two teams faced the World Youth Cup (19 years old), in a meeting that ended with Brazil’s 1-0 victory in the group stage.

The two teams tied negatively in the World Junior Cup in 1987, and the World Youth Cup 1993 version, in the group stage, and these results are considered the best results for the Saudi team in their confrontations against Brazil.

The two teams met for the first time at the adult level in the Confederations Cup in 1997, which ended with a 3-0 victory for Brazil, then they met again in the same tournament in 1999, and Samba won 8-2.
