The average exchange rate of the Saudi riyal against the Egyptian pound stabilized today, Thursday, February 25, 2021, in banks and exchange companies.

During the banking market trading, today, Thursday, the average price of the Egyptian pound decreased against the European euro and the pound sterling, while the local currency stabilized against the dollar, the Saudi riyal, the Emirati dirham, and the Kuwaiti dinar.

According to a survey by “Al-Ain News” in 23 banks, the average price of the Saudi riyal was recorded at about 4.11 pounds for purchase and 4.20 pounds for sale.

The increase in Egypt’s monetary reserves supported the strength of the local currency against foreign currencies. It also contributed to the stability of the money market and the absence of the parallel market.

The highest price of the riyal

The riyal recorded the highest purchase price at 4.17 pounds in 3 banks, namely Odeh, Bloom Misr, and Mashreq, while the highest price for selling the riyal came at 4.25 pounds in the Housing and Development Bank.

The price of the Saudi riyal in the National Bank of Egypt (the largest government bank) was stable at about 4,097 pounds for purchase and 4,188 pounds for sale.

The Egyptian Central Bank announced that the country’s foreign exchange reserves had risen to $ 40.101 billion last January.

Dollar, euro and sterling prices

The average price of the dollar in Egypt stabilized on the Central Bank of Egypt website, today, Thursday, at about 15.6275 pounds for purchase and 15.7272 pounds for sale.

While the average euro exchange rate rose on the Central Bank of Egypt website, today, Thursday, to about 19.02 pounds for purchase, and 19.15 pounds for sale, compared to about 18.99 pounds for purchase, and 19.12 pounds for sale, yesterday, Wednesday.

The average exchange rate of the pound sterling increased to about 22.11 pounds for purchase and 22.25 pounds for sale, compared to about 22.01 pounds for purchase and 22.16 pounds for sale.

Dirham and dinar rates

The average price of the Emirati dirham, at the Central Bank of Egypt, was settled at about 4,254 pounds for purchase and 4,282 pounds for sale.

While the Kuwaiti dinar scored 51.60 pounds for purchase, and 52.07 pounds for sale, compared to about 51.63 pounds for purchase, and 52.03 pounds for sale, yesterday.

Positive signs

The Egyptian economy indicators are improving despite the Corona pandemic, amid a state of stability in the exchange market in light of the availability of foreign currencies.

The dollar is expected to decline against the pound in the coming days, in light of official data on the rise in remittances from Egyptians abroad despite the Corona pandemic.

Remittances from Egyptians working abroad achieved a remarkable increase in 2020, which represented a strong support for the Egyptian pound against the dollar.

The Central Bank of Egypt announced that the country received $ 27.1 billion in remittances from Egyptians working abroad from January to the end of November 2020.

Data from the Egyptian Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics showed that consumer price inflation in Egyptian cities fell to 4.3% year-on-year in January, from 5.4% last December.
