Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, announced yesterday that the Minister of Civil Aviation had been instructed to immediately allow the reception of flights coming from Libyan cities to Cairo International Airport, and an agreement to set controls for this file.

This came after an expanded session of talks was held in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, and chaired by the heads of the Egyptian government, Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, and the Libyan national unity government, Abdel Hamid Dabaiba, in the presence of the ministerial delegations and a number of senior officials in the two countries.

EgyptAir recently announced the start of weekly direct flights between Cairo and the German city of Dusseldorf, starting from July 2, 2021.

This comes in light of the Egyptian Ministry of Civil Aviation’s vision to expand in linking Cairo with many focal points around the world.

The company also recently confirmed the suspension of its flights between Cairo and Casablanca, against the background of the Moroccan authorities’ suspension of travel to several countries, including Egypt, as part of precautionary measures to combat the spread of the Corona virus.

Egyptian terms

Egypt requires those coming from abroad to submit a negative “PCR” result at most 72 hours before arriving on Egyptian territory, in addition to imposing financial fines and penalties on non-compliant airlines to force them to abide by the laws.

The airline either bears the costs of conducting a “PCR” analysis, the value of which is estimated to be conducted inside the airport at about EGP 1650 for a foreigner – to any passenger it carries to Egypt without the analysis or has completed its analysis, or to return him again on board the same flight, in addition to forcing it to bear the expenses of his stay for 24 hours inside One of the hotels pending the issuance of the results of the analysis, in addition to a fine of 1,000 dollars for non-compliance.

Egyptian airports are obligated to implement the government’s decision to ban entry to those coming from abroad of all nationalities without a “PCR” analysis with a negative result before the flight by a deadline of 72 hours. Children under 6 years of age are excluded from all nationalities.

The decision includes Egyptians and foreigners coming from all countries abroad, except for those coming from “Japan – China – Thailand – North and South America – Canada and London Heathrow – Paris – Frankfurt airports,” where a maximum period of 96 hours is allowed for the next flight from these countries. Due to the long travel and transit times at these airports, those coming directly to Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada, Marsa Alam and Taba airports can only perform a “PCR” analysis upon their arrival at the airport.
