Egypt participates in the Berlin Tourist Exchange and reviews the plan to support and promote the sector

Within the framework of the government’s participation in Berlin Tourist Exchange ITB, whose activities began today by default and will continue until March 12th, Ghada Shalaby, responsible for the tourism sector, participated in a dialogue session entitled “Destination Management and Thought Leaders Forum”, the Destinations Management and Thought Leaders Forum.

Dr. Talib Al-Rifai, former Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization, participated in the session.

At the beginning of the session, Shalaby answered a question about the impact of new archaeological discoveries in Egypt in attracting more tourism movement despite the current challenges, as she indicated that she broadcast a number of videos about these archaeological discoveries and the new museums that were inaugurated during the year 2020. From virtual tours to some museums and archaeological sites through the official pages of the Ministry on the Internet and social networking sites, through which it invited tourists to visit Egypt by highlighting all the unique archaeological components of the Egyptian tourist destination, which would attract the attention of tourists and encourage them to visit Egypt, as well as emphasizing the emphasis on The greatness of the ancient Egyptian civilization.

She also spoke during the session about the precautionary measures and health safety controls applied in tourist and hotel facilities, museums and archaeological sites to ensure safe travel to Egyptian tourist destinations, stressing close cooperation to contain the impact of the Corona pandemic on the Egyptian tourism sector and the steps implemented in the framework of the gradual and safe return of tourism in Egypt, foremost of which is the issuance The Ministry of Health Safety Certificate and the requirement to obtain it to operate hotel and tourism facilities, in order to ensure that all establishments adhere to the application of preventive measures.

Regarding the lessons learned from the crises faced by tourism, she emphasized that the most important lessons are the necessity for governments to work to meet the needs of the tourism industry and the importance of providing the necessary assistance to pass this period, and work to maintain trained workers in preparation for the resumption of travel and the return of tourism to its rates at the end of the pandemic, In addition to the importance of the tourist destinations continuing to communicate with their main exporting markets for tourism, and not only focusing on promoting the various components of the tourist destination, but also focusing on the health safety measures followed in the tourist destination to maintain the safety and health of tourists and workers in the sector.

Mohamed Farag, director of the central office overseeing Germany, Switzerland and Austria at the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion, said that the ministry’s participation in this important annual tourism event comes within the framework of the efforts it is undertaking to restore tourist traffic to Egypt from various countries of the world, especially from the German market, which is considered One of the important tourist markets that export tourism to Egypt.

He pointed out that during the activities of the Stock Exchange, professional meetings with tour operators, airlines and various tourism unions will be intensified to discuss developments that have occurred in the tourism market, in light of the positive indications that most countries of the world are keen to vaccinate their citizens against the emerging corona virus.
