A draft law to register and exploit Egyptian antiquities, with a financial return of more than $ 500 billion

Dr. Ayman Mahsab, a member of the Plan and Budget Committee in the House of Representatives, announced that he had submitted a new bill under the title “Registration and Exploitation of Egyptian Antiquities at Home and Abroad,” pointing out that the main objective of the project is for the government to register all antiquities in the wipo organization, which is the International Organization for Property Rights Therefore, Egypt gets billions in return for the antiquities found in other countries as a result of their exploitation.

“Mahsab” said that the new project generates an income for the state estimated at more than 500 billion dollars, pointing out that the antiquities are spread in many countries of the world and we may not be able to return them to Egypt again, but we can get a return as a result of these countries’ exploitation of antiquities, pointing out that The new project allows the government to register all antiquities; Tutankhamun, Nefertiti, Abo Alhoul, and every pharaonic model is small or large, and then no country can exploit the antiquities except by returning to Egypt if all the pieces are registered.

A member of Parliament added, for example, that Germany registered the Mercedes trademark within the wipo organization, and then no country can exploit the trademark without returning to Germany, which gets a direct return as a result of exploiting its trademark, and here if Egypt succeeds in registering its historical monuments The country will get a huge financial return as a result of the presence of many antiquities abroad.

“Mahsab” explained that he will hold an important meeting with Dr. Khaled Al-Anani, Minister of Antiquities and Tourism to present the new bill to him so that the government can move immediately and start the procedures for registering antiquities in the International Organization for Intellectual Property Rights, which will greatly help in preserving the ownership of Egyptian antiquities on the one hand. On the other hand, achieving an appropriate financial return as a result of its exploitation by any other country.

A member of the House of Representatives drew attention to the monitoring of 40 museums around the world that contain nearly a million artifacts, on top of those museums, the British Museum in the English capital London, which contains more than 100,000 artifacts, not including the Wendorf collection that was donated to the museum in 2001. Which includes six million artifacts dating back to prehistoric times in Egypt and Sudan, in addition to the New Berlin Museum in Germany, and Petri for Egyptian Antiquities in Britain, where each contains more than 80 thousand artifacts, then the Louvre Museum in the French capital Paris by about 50 thousand An artifact, and the Museums of Fine Arts in Boston and Kisley Archeology in Michigan, USA, with about 45,000 Egyptian artifacts each.
